Frequently Asked Questions
What time does the cinema open?
The cinema usually opens 15 minutes before the first film starts.
Film Classifications
Please refer to the BBFC website (www.bbfc.co.uk)
A U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over, although it is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child.
U films should be set within a positive framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror. If a work is particularly suitable for pre-school children, this will be indicated in the ratings info. General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children.
A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
Films classified 12A and video works classified 12 contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for that child. To help them decide, we recommend that they check the Ratings info for that film in advance.
No one younger than 15 may see a 15 film in a cinema.
No one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema.
Do I need to bring ID?
Unfortunately, S&B Cinemas will be unable to admit a customer to see a film who does not appear to be of the required age for the film certification. S&B Cinemas reserves the right to challenge a customer on this issue, as this is the law. Customers may be asked to provide proof of age and refused entry if ID is not provided or not of an acceptable form.
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be bought online, over the telephone direct with the cinema (during opening hours) or in person. A booking fee applies to online transactions (£1.25 per ticket up to a maximum of £5)
Please note that online ticket sales are cut-off 15 minutes before the show starts. If you wish to book for a show at the last minute, please contact the cinema directly to check availability to avoid disappointment.
Can I bring in my own drinks and sweets?
Unfortunately, we don’t allow outside drinks and snacks into our cinema (except for medical exemptions). Our concession sales are what allow us to keep our ticket prices low, so we ask politely that all customers purchase their drinks and sweets from our kiosk so that we can continue to provide everyone with an affordable experience!
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes! We have two screens on the ground floor and a wheelchair lift that takes you to the second floor screen. There is a space reserved for a single wheelchair and removeable seats to accommodate more if needed.
Why don’t you take cash?
Unfortunately, due to the cost of dealing with cash we made the decision at the start of 2024 to stop taking cash at all of our sites. With the rising costs of banking charges, insurance and third-party transport costs for cash, it meant that the overall cost of handling cash would result in a significant loss to our business and would have resulted in having to increase our prices above what we deemed reasonable.
We accept all forms of major credit/debit cards as well as Apple and Google Pay.
